Please join us in welcoming Almudena Garcia to MATGAS as a Research Associate.

Almudena joined MatGas in Ocotber 2011 as a Research Associate to work on molecular modeling and simulations of materials for trace removal for air purification.

She obtained her degree in Physics from the University Complutense of Madrid and started her PhD in the University of Amsterdam under the supervision of Prof. Krishna and Prof. Calero (University Pablo de Olavide, Seville).  Her thesis work focused on understanding the diffusion and adsorption processes of several gases into different types of zeolites (aluminosilicates) with added cations. Therefore, she developed new force fields and used simulation techniques such as grand canonical Monte Carlo (GCMC) and Molecular Dynamics (MD) in order to efficiently control the parameters that govern these processes.

In the last stage of her PhD, she moved to Delft University of Technology for one year, where she joined Prof. Vlugt’s group, first as a visiting student thanks to a European Science Foundation (ESF) fellow grant and then as a Research Associate, where she had the opportunity to improve her molecular simulation skills.

Welcome to MATGAS, Almudena!
