First Symposium on Sustainable Development of New Industrial Processes through Life Cycle Analysis

MATGAS, 20 May 2010

acv_matgas_imageWelcome to the website for the first symposium on Sustainable Development of New Industrial Processes through Life Cycle Analysis.
The meeting was very successful, with around 40 delegates attending from both industries and academia.

Overview

Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is the one methodology that allows performing a comprehensive assessment of the environmental impact of products and services in a life-cycle perspective. Thanks to this unique approach, the LCA tool has developed at great pace during the last decades, and has found widespread applications in product development in industry, marketing of products, and within policy making, just to name a few.

The scope and main objective of this symposium were to review the latest results of studies coming from Spanish LCA experts, many of whom are internationally renowned in the field. As such, this symposium brought together experts, graduate students and industrial practitioners to meet, network and hear about interesting developments or work in progress. The symposium gave the opportunity to present a broad range of practical applications of LCA, from policy perspectives to eco-design or renewable energy sources and sustainability, both in oral and poster formats.

The symposium was held in MATGAS, a center of excellence in CO2 and Sustainability. We believe this symposium offered the opportunity of having open discussions and learning, as well as building long lasting collaborations in this area.
