The project has as a final objective to develop technologies for designing integrated concepts of refinery, combining energy production and biopro- ducts. The criteria of economical, environmental and social sustainability will be analyzed to gua- rantee that solutions are sustainable and viable. The BioSos project has the mission to cover the full chain of biomass value, from the resource generation to final market products. Activities have been allocated to the production of biomass, to the primary transformations of |
biomass in intermediate products and to the transformation of these intermediates to final market products. All these processes are analyzed with appropriate tools to ensure the sustainability of the developed solutions. The project is divided in five different activities: Raw Materials, Sugars, Gases, Biopro- ducts and Sustainability. Carburos Metálicos- Air Products is one of the partners in the project, while MATGAS and the other partners, CSIC and UAB participate as contractors to develop part of the technical work. |

The objective of this project is to obtain detailed information on the reaction of CO2 with rocks under sequestration conditions, using the supercritical lab facilities and know-how. |
The experimental set-up to test the effects of the water displacement on the pores of the rocks by CO2 has been built. With this study we will be able to characterize the flow dynamics of the CO2 through the brine aquifer for CO2 sequestration. |

The global aim of CENIT SOST-CO2 project, entit- led “Nuevas utilizaciones industriales sostenibles del CO2”, is to develop technologies of use of CO2 complementary to the technologies of CO2 capture, as alternative to geologic confinement, prioriti- zing the combination capture-transformation-use, and the utilization at at large-scales. Developing of such technologies covers the research, |
develop and validation of new concepts and integrated solutions to improve the value chain of CO2. The project is divided in three interrelated blocks, and nine activities, including capture in emission sources (block 1), CO2 transformation by fotore- duction or biomimetics (block 2) and its later use for multiple utilizations in energy, food, water treatments, materials, etc. (block 3) |
