lora_tamayo_csicThe Council of Ministers has appointed Emilio Lora-Tamayo president of the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC), a position he held between 2003 and 2004.
Physicist Emilio Lora-Tamayo will replace Rafael Rodrigo, head of the CSIC since 2008. Thus, Lora-Tamayo returned to preside over the largest public research body in the country as he did during the years 2003 and 2004 with the second term of José María Aznar.


Born in Madrid in 1950, Lora-Tamayo was Vice President of Scientific and Technical Research in the CSIC from 1996 to 2003. He holds a BA and PhD in Physics from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and a DEA from the University Paul Sabatier of Toulouse. He is also a Professor of Electronics at the Universidad Autonoma de Barcelona, specializing in the fields of physics and technology of semiconductor devices and integrated silicon circuits.
