Thesis defense on materials for greenhouse gas capture
Santiago Builes defended a thesis on understanding the behaviour of materials for greenhouse gas capture by molecular simulation.
The thesis examined how porous materials interact with greenhouse gases at the molecular level. Molecular simulation can show where a gas molecule sits, how strongly it is bound and how the material responds as conditions change.
The defense took place at 10:30 in the MATGAS conference room. It marked the completion of a research project that combined simulation with the centre's interest in CO2 capture materials.
Doctoral work of this kind is one way the centre contributes to the wider research base. The computational laboratory continues to support similar projects.
