Laboratory
Industrial Scaling
A pilot area for taking a laboratory process to a size where its behaviour can be observed.
What this laboratory does
The Industrial Scaling laboratory is dedicated to moving processes from laboratory scale to pilot plant size. It covers 150 square metres, divided into a 50 square metre assembly area and a 100 square metre pilot zone that is 9 metres high. The height allows semi industrial extraction, distillation and fractioning columns to be installed and operated safely.
Capabilities
Methods and equipment
- Pilot scale extraction and distillation
- Fractioning columns
- Process instrumentation and sampling
- Rig assembly and modification
- Safe working at height
Research lines served
This laboratory supports work across the following research lines. A project may use the laboratory for a single measurement or for a long programme of work.
