SOFCOM newsletter, issue one
The first newsletter of the SOFCOM project described an applied research programme on combined cooling, heat and power plants based on solid oxide fuel cells.
SOFCOM was an FP7 project on solid oxide fuel cell systems. Its aim was to examine whether combined cooling, heat and power plants work, how efficiently they run and what environmental benefit they offer when fed by different biogenous fuels, with a step to separate CO2 from the anode exhaust gases.
The first newsletter introduced the consortium and the two proof of concept systems that the project planned to study. It also described the integration questions that arise when a fuel cell is combined with fuel processing, gas cleaning and heat recovery.
MATGAS was one of the project partners. The project is described in more detail on the European projects page.
