Hydrogen generation from aluminium and sodium borohydride

A study of the combined use of aluminium, aluminium alloys and sodium borohydride to release hydrogen in water.

Hydrogen can be released from water by a reaction with a reactive metal, but the oxide layer on aluminium normally slows the reaction. Combining aluminium with other reagents can change the kinetics and the yield.

The study examines aluminium, aluminium alloys and sodium borohydride together in aqueous solution. The aim is to understand whether the components act synergistically and what that means for a practical hydrogen source.
