Sensor technologies for diagnosis and water treatment

A seminar in the CO2 and sustainability series examined sensor technologies and their use in clinical diagnosis and water treatment.

Sensors turn a chemical or biological change into a measurable signal. The same underlying idea can be used to detect a marker in a clinical sample or a contaminant in water, although the operating conditions and the required sensitivity are different.

The seminar brought those two application areas together. It considered how sensor materials and measurement strategies are chosen, and where the limits of detection and selectivity matter most.

The CO2 and sustainability seminar series was designed to expose the centre's researchers to methods from adjacent fields. This talk is one example of that exchange.
